STERNA (Semantic Web-based Thematic European Reference Network Application) is an eContentplus best-practice network project that supports the objectives of the European Digital Library by experimenting with the integration of semantically enriched, digital source material in the field of natural sciences and natural history.

The project started in 2008 and had a duration of 30 months. In addition to delivering content, the R&D department evaluated the project from the perspective of the content partners.

STERNA was funded within the eContentplus programme of the European Commission.
