Aukje van Roessel is a political editor with 'De Groene Amsterdammer'. As a journalist, she can be found in and around the Binnenhof almost every day. She kindly agreed to film this special work environment for us on the very last day possible, just before the House of Representatives relocated while the Binnenhof underwent renovations. In this video compilation, she shows the old corridors of the building where she spoke with politicians and spokespersons for years as a reporter. Just look at that old telephone!

Bart Maat is a political photographer for the ANP. He made the headlines himself, after photographing ‘coalition scout’ Kajsa Ollongren rushing from the Binnenhof after testing positive for coronavirus, her formation notes visible under her arm.
In his film, Bart Maat takes us back to that moment and his favourite spots in the Binnenhof, while he talks about the importance of the work of press photographers.

Den Haag FM makes news and stories about what goes on in The Hague and what you really need to know about the city. Whether it’s about the housing market, parking problems, 112 news, or shopping, entertainment and culture. Den Haag FM keeps residents in the city informed. We are 100 per cent The Hague, with, by and for local people. That’s what’s so great about working for the local radio station. Everything you come across on the street can be a story. And you get to know so many local people. As a journalist that makes you feel very much a part of things.
Here, you can watch the video (English subtitles) about local lady Jacqueline who cooks for homeless people in her own kitchen during the summer months, and even delivers the food. She does it all for free and pays for everything herself. That story touched so many hearts that dozens of people emailed us wanting to help Jacqueline. Which goes to show the power of the media. It brings people together.
Den Haag FM also likes hearing what’s on the minds of local people. That’s why our reporter Pim Markering makes Straatvraag every week. He goes out into the streets with his microphone and a camerawoman. The stories could be about almost anything—local football club ADO Den Haag, the coronavirus measures, racism, house prices, riots or laughing gas. Everyone has stories and views they want to share with Pim. The result: insights and funny answers. Watch the video here (English subtitles).
