With the combined efforts of several partners throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain SMILES targets those who work in libraries, media literacy organisations and research institutes to develop and test an innovative approach to combating the spread of disinformation. The workshops that will be developed by those involved focus on innovative educational approaches on tackling fake news.

Inspired by the surge of fake news on COVID-19 the urgency to develop initiatives for young people in secondary schools has increased. The goal is to see how effective various workshops on fake news are in increasing information literacy, digital readiness, and critically use digital technology. The project itself will deploy a 'train the trainer' approach, in which school teachers and librarians are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and materials to deliver workshops on the topic to young people.

Sound & Vision offers its knowledge in the field of news literacy and develops training materials for workshops for young people.
