Watching and listening to the collection

You can search our archive via our website. This can be done at zoeken.beeldengeluid.nl. There you will also find a lot of thematic channels with videos and background information. The interface and the descriptions are in Dutch. Unfortunately you can not watch everything online, which has to do with legal ownership rights. On the website you will find videos for which we have permission to publish them online. Other things you can find online via our search, but to watch them you will have to come to our collection customer service in Hilversum or by ordering it as a download for private use.

You can of course also visit our collection customer service in Hilversum to search and view the archive for free.

Press Museum collection

Searching and consulting the collection of the former Press Museum can be done at the International Institute for Social History (IISH).

Archiving

Would you like to know more about how we store our collection, about archiving? Then check out these sources.

The Collection Policy

The Collection Policy explains what we add to our archive and the selection criteria that are used. We can't save everything, so archiving sometimes also means throwing away.

The Preservation Policy

The Preservation Policy gives a good idea of how we work towards the sustainable preservation of our collection, the archival material. It's a pretty technical book, so it can be tough for beginners.

Images for the Future

Between 2007 and 2014, Sound & Vision participated in the Images for the Future project. Together with Nationaal Archief, EYE Film Instituut Nederland and Kennisland, we ensured that an important part of Dutch national heritage in the audiovisual field is preserved through preservation and digitisation. You can read more about this in the final report of this large-scale, national digitisation project.

Articles on archiving

Professional literature on audiovisual archiving can be found on our publication platform and on the Knowledge Database for Audiovisual Archiving. These articles are specifically aimed at AV professionals and can therefore be quite technical.
